My girlfriend and I were planning on getting married this winter, however while we were looking into it we found out about the Certificate of Approval thing and having to apply for it with at least 3 months of the visa left, the problem is that her 2 year Visa runs out on 2nd Feb 07! Is there anything we can do as I don't think we can afford for her to stop working, go home, apply to come here to get married, fly back, get married then apply for visa.

She is from Canada and I am British.

    Please help! any suggestions welcome.

You can try using the Church of England process called "Marriage by Banning" It skips around the process takes about 3 to 4 weeks to complete. If you do a google on Marriage by Banning you can find out more. Still doesn't help your girlfriend with her visa problem but if you are quick you can get married before it runs out.

I know the Goverment have been trying to find a way to close this loophole and as far as I know it is still being done.
