I am a French citizen and already have a Residence Permit since a couple of years.
I got it as my wife is non EEA and has also been granted her residency for 5 years. However I do have a Residence Permit and she has a stamp on her passport.
As the paper work to include my daughter will be the same... I am wondering if it would be better to start from scratch requesting a family permit or just do an application for my daughter who is over 21 but we have all the proofs needed to show support as I have been her sponsor since she came to study 2 years ago.
    - If we start from scratch: wil my wife "loose" her nearly 3 years stay in England ?
    - The last date entered the UK: is it REALLY the last time entered ? I ask as she has been staying in England since 2 years ago she has done a few trips and even one back home for a month.
    - As she applied and got a student visa: should the application number be entered in Section 10 ?

    Thanks in advance

I am sorry, I dont follow you on this one!!?? :headscratch:

Your wife has her 5 year residence!?Why would you apply again for something that you already got?
    What is your daughters nationality?
If French she can study and you can support her without need for residence.

Sorry... It seems I have not been asclear as I thought.

My family is from Venezuela and I was just wondering if it wasn't easier to get the Residence Permit as a Family permit...
    Not to worry.
It was just a thought.. . But now that I see your reaction, it might look a bit weird. So, let's forget about this point...
    Sorry... ;)

So, your daughter is from Venezuela?
    Can she get French passport?
What kind of visa she has?

Ok, it looks that you want more details so, there you go.
Venezuela used to be a quiet nice country so I never took any steps into applying for any member of my family for French citizenship.
As the country is deteriorating very fast, my wife and I decided to start a new life in Europe and thought the best place would be England as I don't quite think I would really fit back into the French working environment.
My daughter came a few months later as she was struggling to find a job (who needs interior designers in a country were 80% of the population lives in near poverty conditions ?) and we thought it was an add-on to have an "extra language". So she came to study and got her student visa and, af course, I was her sponsor...
Now, we have sold what used to be our home and decided to settle permanently in the UK. She is 26, never got a job in Venezuela as she was studying and always lived with us. Quite typical over there. Children don't leave home when they turn 18.
Now, she speaks an even better English than me and we are really looking forward to start a new life all together as it has always been.

    Hmmm...
All these applications...it would make sense to apply now if they qualify ;)

Thanks for your concern regarding this issue !!!

Yes, they do qualify except for very small detail that cannot be solved before November when her student visa will expire...
They MUST communicate properly in French. That is: they should be able to keep a simple conversation.
Apart from "bonne nuit", "bon appétit" and "merci", be able to appreciate a good meal, french chese and wine... I am afraid it is not quite what they are requiring in the French Consulate to give them the citizenship. :D
In about 10 to 15 years from now, they will be applying for the British nationality anyway so there is no much point of ending up with 3 passports and or citizenships

Again I really do appreciate your comments so far

Thanks again for your confirmation regarding the appropriate form.
Now, I still have doubts regarding some of the required information. :headscratch:

    - The last date entered the UK: is it REALLY the last time entered ? I ask as she has been staying in England since 2 years ago she has done a few trips and even one back home for a month.
I know it sounds quite a silly question but it makes sense when you think we have been living here for almost 3 years and it would appear as "last entered" just a few month ago...

    - As she applied and got a student visa: should the application number be entered in Section 10 ? OR there is no relationship between both applications ?

    - as a sponsor: my application number shouldn't be my residence permit number instead ?

    - Do you think is worth get additional help (e.g. Citizen Advice Bureau) in order to fill the form ?

I greatly appreciate your comments on these questions.

    Just use common sense.

Include cover letter.Explain situation in full, her status as a student, that you supported her and you will continue to do so,basically that she is your dependant, how long she has been living with you....etc.
