If you are offering to provide support and accommodation, or to pay for travel to the UK, you must provide evidence of your ability to do so. The following would be helpful.

A letter of sponsorship giving details of your occupation and salary and how you will provide support and accommodation for the applicant. There is no need to have this letter certified (in other words, signed) before a solicitor or commissioner for oaths to confirm it is genuine.
Evidence of your ability to pay for the trip, such as copies of your last six months' bank or building society statements and salary slips.

Thanks for the tips, its not just id theft sending my statements ! i have a large overdraft and am always in it although it does not affect my finances im worried that this will be an easy excuse for them to say no.

If im only providing accomadation and i own my own home which has a spare room i cannont see what a two week visit would make an impact on my finances.

This entire visa process leaves me thinking the uk looks for any excuse not to grant visas. I can fully understand declining visas for a good reason but stopping someone talking a small holiday over someone elses finanical standing is wrong.

    Dont send it then.
You have general idea what to do,thats most important ;)

Actually the bank statments are more confimation that you are working/getting paid, rather then your financial situation.

THanks for your help. Its such a mine field and feels almost as stressful as buying a house. I guess I should relax till the actual day she goes to the embassy.

i see many thanks this clears it up

"In all cases, the Entry Clearance Officer needs to be satisfied that sufficient funds are available for the intended visit, and while there is no specific requirement as to what type of document can constitute proof of funds a bank statement or payslips may indicate the applicant/sponsor's ability to meet the costs of the trip. Please note that cash cannot constitute proof of funds."
