Hi

I currently have a partner in Romania and the constant trips overthere are starting to cost too much. Id very much like my partner to come and live with me in the uk. We are both very confused about the visa situation.

Initially we were thinking of a visitor visa so she could come and stay for 6 months and perhaps in this time we would marry. But im not sure if this is possible on that type of visa ?

We are also worried if it is difficult to obtain a visa to visit the uk ?

And also as Romania is due to join the EU on the 1st of Jan 2007 how this will effect the visa process ? will things become a lot easier ?

My original plan is for her to come for 6 months then afterwards for us to marry either in uk or romania. Then to apply for permanent visa for the uk. Im worried about how long this will take and if it is possible that they can refuse u so we will never be together.

All in all we are both very worried and confused. All we want is to be together and are a genuine couple very much in love. All these papers seem designed to stop people coming the the uk and i can find very little to assist me. I also dont ern the kind of money that i can hire a lawyer to help in these matters.

Can anyone offer any advise it would be gratefully accepted.

is it difficult to get a visit visa ? she is only a student and im worried they will say she cannot afford it ! even though it may be only a short stay
