    Hi there,

I'm back from London and don't want to go back there. I wanted to find a job and improve my English but in 2 weeks I have never spoken something else than french... Moreover, life is incredibly expensive there : I ran out of money in 12 days.

But I really want to go somewhere to improve my English by finding a job.
Which city would you advise me to go to in the UK ?
Or probably in an other country ?

I would like to go somewhere where life cost is decent and where I could meet students.

    What about the Kent ?

    Thank you very much.

i've seen posts where one person offers to teach their native language in exchange for someone who speaks the language they want to learn. try it. you might also want to try areas near a university. students are always looking for someone to share a flat with.

    good luck

I suggest Edinburgh - It's a beatiful but small city. Three University's (Edinburgh Uni has 25% international students) and lots of language schools. Can live the City lifestyle for a fraction of the price in London. Also, you can find cheap accomodation in the city centre - no need to commute.
You would also have no problem finding work - plently of cafes etc would employ you, or there are lots of companies who take on waiting on staff of all nationalities.
Full of culture (Edinburgh Festival is about to start) and good flights/trains network.

I would suggest London! It is the best city ever! I have been here for 10 months now and absolutely love it!

If you need more info about London and Language courses etc. Ask me!

    au pair in Britain

It is interesting that you find London expensive, I agree it is easier to save some money elsewhere, yet so many young people focus only on London. We live in Kent and our au pairs have always been very happy. Local language classes here are FREE of charge. I have recently started my own au pair agency, you can sign up and I can help to find you a suitable family where you really get exposure to the English language.

    http://www.smartaupairs.com

smartaupairs encourages young people from Europe to earn and learn as an au pair with a British family. The families get the benefits from cultural childcare with a passion. Candidates have complete profiles with references and police check. We interview all candidates and help both au pairs and families with hints & tips to succeed. Au pairs receive a unique start-up bonus with benefits such as a UK simcard with call credit and a bank account with dedicated services for overseas visitors at a reduced rate.

Good luck and look forward to hear from you!
