Does anybody know where in the UK we can obtain a certified copy of a UK passport? I've searched the internet to no avail, and its getting closer to my appointment in Chicago. I still have a couple months, but I want to be prepared! ^_^

Any help you give will be greatly appreciated!! Thankies in advance!

Well, I was sorta thinking there might be a UK website with the info all in one place, and I'd easily navigate from there.

    Guess I was wrong :p

    We hail from North Wales.

Wrong guess, we cover the world ;-)

In the UK you may ask banks to certify your papers.

    So, strictly speaking...

All I have to do is take him and his passport to a bank, and ask for a certified copy of it?

I figured it'd be a long drawn out process that'd take me a month to complete. Kind of the in the way that you go about for obtaining a certified copy of a long form birth certificate. You have to send off a letter and a cheque. Then about 2 weeks later, you get your requested documents.

I just want to make sure that I have every possible document that pertains to my application. ^_^

Usually banks can certify papers (like with a stamps). However, for some legal document you will have to use a solicitor (cost about £80) but it shouldn't be that long as it is just a signature.

    Late to the party, sorry.

For documents to be used within the UK a bank manager can certify them. These are typically financial documents or proofs of ID for financial services or for getting a UK passport.

For documents to be used in jurisdictions outside the UK's direct control (including some UK colonies, such as Bermuda) you are required to have your certificates notarised. This is done by a notary public: most solicitors offices have one, and he'll charge you about £80 irrespective of the number of documents.

Ok, so basically, if I can get together all of my documents and take them to a solicitor's, I'll be good to go when my interview rolls around. This is excellent! Ace.

    <33 Thank you ^_^
