Hi I am living in California. My girlfriend is English and attends law school in London. We have been together for over 2 years and we intend on marrying, although not just as a reason for my eligibity to live and work in the UK. I would like nothing more than to relocate to London and begin my life with her. I understand that it is quite difficult for someone in my specific position to attain eligibility to live and work in the UK. However, my Grandmother (mother's side) was born in France and resided there until she was about 20. She then met my Grandfather (US citizen) and moved to the US. Am I eligible to obtain French citizenship? Dual citizenship? Any advice in this area would be GREATLY appreciated. Dan
This will give you some idea as well as links @ http://www.multiplecitizenship.com/wscl/ws_FRANCE.html
Ok, so apparently my Mother would be eligible to be considered a French citizen. Does that then entitle me to be eligble for French citizenship? And in order to provide proof that my Grandmother was a French citizen, would her passport suffice? If not, how would I go about obtaining documentation regarding my Grandmother? Thank you, DK
I am not familiar with requirements for a French citizenship, thats why I would suggest you to contact the links/addresses I provided.
