hi, i found your website to be helpful. Here's the question I have. I am a common wealth country citizen. I am planning to travel to the UK from Canada without a return ticket. A travel agent said its better for me to get a ticket for my next destination in UK itself. Would it be hastle for me if I had a one way ticket to enter for a few weeks of holiday. What would be best to explain to the airport security I am on holiday? Thanks

You may not even get on the plane, never mind UK.If you are not an UK resident you`d be expected to have a return ticket.

Are you sure it's not more flexible... something like if you are not a member of the EU? Because if you are within the EU you can perfectly take a one way ticket to go to the UK.

    Yes within EU.
Most check-ins now would ask you for a return or onward ticket, experience by many travellers and people on the other forums.
If you just produce one way ticket like I did numerous times, clerk would just politely ask ,"WHAT ABOUT YOUR ONWARD TICKET SIR"
He could just get away with it, if lucky, but if asked he`d be in trouble.
I was even asked in Cook Islands(middle of nowhere in the Pacific Ocean),to produce my onward ticket.
Therefore I would advice anyone to get an return ticket ;)

    Hello!
My name is Anita, I'm 20 years old and i would like to ask some help...
On the summer I'm going to go to London with one of my friends.
We want to stay there for two month, thats why we will need a job.
So I would like to ask some information about the salaries in London
and jobs for students. We are going there from Hungary to learn and
practice the language. We know the rent of the housing it is 75 pounds
per week. With this information we have to look for job to earn enough
    money to live there...
Please help me if you can.
    I'm looking forward your advice.
    Thanks for your time...
