Hi folks, just looking for a bit of advice on this scenario.

I'm Scottish and living in Scotland, my girlfriends American and living in the US. We've been flying back and forth to see each other for 4 and half years now basically working around uni holidays and any other time off we could get. I finished with uni a couple of years ago and she's due to finish in the summer so we're trying to work out someway we can live together here in Scotland. We can't go for the unmarried partners visa because we've never had the joint bills or bank accounts or anything like that. We both feel we're too young to get married so thats out for the moment. Ideally she'd get a work permit and get a job here but I don't think thats likely as she doesn't have any work experience yet. There doesn't seem to be too many other options available to us

Anyone have any suggestions or advice that could help us out?

    thanks for your time,
    Ian

We looked into this last year, but we ruled it out because of the costs involved. Its like £4/£5 grand a year. It might be something we have to look into again though, cheers.

    Consider this

Tell her to have a look at the teachinginscotland.com site. Even if her degree is in something obscure, she could train for the year, then get paid to teach while you are waiting for better prospects.
