Hi all, I am an Austrian married to an Indian, both living in Germany. We plan to relocate to the UK and I'm preparing the family permit application. As my husband is working abroad at the moment, I did take his passport to handle it in with all the other documents per mail (in his name). How likely is it, that he is going to be asked to turn up at the Embassy in Germany in person?? Is it too much of a risk - because if they ask him to go there, he can't, and also he cannot travel back, as his passport is with the authorities. Please advice. Thank you, Anna

    Hi,
Let me get it right ,he left the country and send his passport by mail.
He is in the third country without passport?!
    Is he resident in Germany?

That was not wise thing to do,but may just about work for you.The risk is still there.

He has an EG card (permanent residence permit) for German. I did visit him during christmas and took his passport back with me. We know that it's not the best thing to do, but as he has to work and can't be in Germany, just waiting for the family permit to be processed, we thought we might as well try it like that. So who gets invited for an interview most likely? Our papers are all fine I guess, so I hope there wont be any problem.

With all the extra info you provided the probability of interview is slim, but you never know.In my opinion he will be granted family permit , no questions asked.
