    Hello to everyone out there,

I am new to this website and i just came across this website when i was trying to search an answer to my problem. I hope u guys might help.

I am a NON-EU national studying in uk from last 3 years .. In january 2005 my student visa was refused 'coz the college i was studying in was not registered with the department of education and skills. And i filed in an appeal against the decision saying that i was unaware of this new regulation and now i have registered in the same course with a college that is registered so i should be granted a visa. Its 11 months now and i have got no replies from Home office.

At the same time, i am going out with the girl from EU from last 1 yr and 6 months. We met each other at work and still we are working together at same place from last one year and a half. I want to get married to her but i cant 'coz my passport is stuck with Home Office. I do understand that i need certificate of approval to get married and for that i need my passport . If i ask for my passport back from Home Office, i have to abandon my appeal and leave this country and when i ring up Home Office to know how long it would take to get my appeal sorted they just ask me to wait. I am STUCKKKK....!!!! i wanted to visit my Gf's country on christmas to see her family but i cant until i have my passport. I dont really know what to do..???

Is there any way out that i can get married in the uk ??

Is it better for me to go back to my country and get married there and then come back as a dependant ??

Do i just have to wait and wait and wait ??

plzz guide me what u think is the best option for me. Your guidance will be highly appreciated.I would like to thank you guys in advance for building and managing this great website. its a great help for all of us stuck in immigration matters. thanx once again.

ok.. thanx a lot for the advice. So, i just need to wait and see if i will get my student visa extended or not. if it gets extended then i will apply for certificate of approval and get married here in uk.. And if not then i might go back to india, get married there and try to apply for spouse visa. But in any case, i will ask her to apply for Resident permit for 5 years as you mentioned that it just makes things easier.

But thanx a lot for all the replies, things are more clear in my mind mind now as before but doubts always remain. thanx again, ur advice highly appreciated.
