I am moving to Dublin in a couple of months and would like to have a rough idea of a typical monthly bill of light & heat and a water bill.I am going to be sharing a flat together with a friend so I would like to know the cost per person for such bills. Also are there other monthly costs which have to be taken into account, besides the rent ? Thanks. Nicky
Hi there, I ve been living in Dublin 8 months now.So this is what I will tell you from my personal experience. Water,no charge for domestic use!!!!! Electricity,30-35 euro for 1 bedroom flat per month. Refuse-Bin Charge havent paid yet, dont know the costs. TV Licence-150 EURO A YEAR!!!!You would have to pay in one go.Havent paid , no intention of payin,4 crap chanells.(nobody knows I got TV ) Ntl basic 19 euro a month(18 chanells),but if you go with them you would have to pay licence as well. Internet and telephone, very expensive, about 60-65 ,with line rental and broadband.I got wireless 30 euro a month, cheaper and no need to enable phone line, that could cost 120 euro for connection! Weekly bus ticket ,19 euros per week! I guess I covered everything,if any other questions feel free to ask 8) Regards Triple H
Hey There, Thanks for the info.I sincerely thought that the landlord pays for the license if he/she owns the TV and the use of the TV would be part of the apartment's rent. Also, would you be able to give me a rough figure of the monthly food costs as i guess that's the most expensive thing we will have after the rent. And what about the heat & light costs ? Also, are there particular areas in Dublin I should definitely avoid when looking for an apartment ? Nicky
I dont pay for the heathing either! Food , I dont know, Like London I guess www.tesco.ie register here and have a look! Going out is same like in London, drinks, clubs. I live and work in south Dublin so I would not know much about North part.Hope you will enjoy here! Regards Triple H
