I am a UK citizen and my boyfriend is from the USA. We met online (which now happens alot I guess), known each other over a year. I spent a month with him in September and we wondered how will he be able to move in with me over here. (this probably not till next summer)

Reading through some of the messages on site I see that if he comes over here he can get a 9 month visitor visa and look for work and get a works permit - have I read right?

We don't want to get married right away but will we have to? And if we get married can we get married elsewhere other than our own respected countries and have it recognised in each?

It feels such a shame that two people who love each other can't be together because of regulations - I understand there has to be them but why.
