You can apply to the Lottery each year. It doesn't mean that you are going to get the green card.

Your mother, hopefully registered your birth with a US Embassy before, so there are records. If not, then it is up to you to prove that your mother is American. I'm not sure what the magic number regarding ages are, but if your mother applies for your green card (hopefully the age is still children under 21), then you being 18 is not a problem.

How long it takes? I suggest your mom files those papers NOW, before you turn 21.

Citzenship normally passes automatically from parent to child. If you can prove your Mother is American, then your claim should be straightfoward. If she has not registered you with the American Gov., you should still have no hassle claiming if you have documents of her citzenship! Good luck!!

Try and go through your Mother's citzenship because the green card can take ages to come through. I was applying for one and was told that I would find out in June 2006 if I had won one and if I was successful I could move to the States in Jan 2007!!!!!

    hi,
it will be very easy for you to get your green card since your mom she's americain their is no problem .
My step mother sponsor my and i'm over 21,so even if you are in the States you could get a authorization work while you waiting for your green card......(it's take aprox. 2 month to get the authorization work).
any way you can go to the us consul in switzerland and ask all the question you need...
    good luck
