I am a US citizen and my fiance is British. We are wanting to go abroad to get married. I did some web surfing and it looks like it's easy to get married in Australia, Sri Lanka, and India, and Jamaica. Just not sure if you have to be the same nationality. We are planning to reside in America. Will the US recognize our marriage?

Why don't you just get married in the US? You don't need tp file for fiancee visa. She can go there for 90 days on a visa waiver program, and within those 90 days you guys can get married. After that, you can file for her spouse visa WHILE in the US.

Lesser problems for both of you.
