    I think! But I don't know where to start. Company has given me a preliminary offer but I want to make sure it's doable.

    As a US citizen, will I have to pay in for Nat'l healthcare?
    Do I pay UK taxes as well?
    Am I about right in assuming that I can find an apt in a safe section of London for about 1000-1200 pounds a month?
    Can someone give me a ballpark on what a "good salary" is in London (aka enough to go out, not worry about money, travel, etc. Nothing extravagent but I refuse to be worrying about money).

    I'm coming from NYC so I know expensive but I also know London is substantially more than NY.

    Hi!
    When you arrive you will have to register for a National Insurance number. This will be used by your employer to pay into the National Health Service. Your employer may be able to do this for you before hand, not sure though.
    This will then entitle you to free healthcare etc.

    London is much more expensive than NY but £1200 will get you an apartment in a nice area. Bear in mind with any big city you are never really far away from trouble.

    I would think that £25K would be enough for one person to live and enjoy themselves, though probably not enough to shell out 1200 for an apartment. See www2.thegumtree.com for a good selection of flats ( aprtments).
