    Hi

My wife and I currently live in the US, but are very seriously considering moving to the UK next year.

Our situation re. citizenship is as follows:

I have dual British and Irish Citizenship (I'm from the North of Ireland originally)
My wife has dual American and Irish Citizenship. She obtained her Irish citizenship through her marriage to me.
Our two children have American citizenship only. They are from my wife's previous marriage, and she has sole legal and physical custody of the little darlings.

Does anyone know where we stand as far as settling in the UK is concerned. I've read conflicting advice on other sites, but the general consensus seems to be that:

    i) My wife has full settlement rights in the UK because of her Irish citizenship.
ii) The children will be able to stay as dependants but might need something called an EEA Family Permit.

Oh, and to confuse things further, since our planned destination is Belfast, it's more than likely that we'll enter the UK by land from the Irish Republic and never actually see a British immigration officer, just an Irish one.

Anyone got any thoughts - it all seems terribly complicated from where I'm standing.

    thanks

There is no complication about your situation. The only thing you and your family need are your passports and plane tickets and a decision as to when you want to emigrate.

Both yourselves and children have Rights to live in the UK or anywhere in the EU.
