    hi to everyone;
    i'm a young man living in Cameroon (Africa).
    I was admitted by many volunteering centers to come in US to volunteer on September for a long term, in Jacksonville (Florida), in City Harvest (NY),Central Union Mission (Whashington DC),Community Health Action (NY).
    But the only problem is that they are not able to assist me further for my visa,but they provide me house and food.They told me to do everything i can do to come in US,and they will take care of me.
    So,i'm here because i'm looking seriously for someone living in NY,Florida or Washington DC who can help me by sending me an invitation Letter permitting me to have my visa here in Cameroon.
    I hope to solve my problem here.
    God bless y'all
    Hervé
    Peace

    Good luck in your request, as I highly doubt a total stranger will allow you to use his/her residence address for your visa application. Americans don't even give their address anymore unless extremely necessary, as identity theft is a major problem there. When I was there, I even had a paper shredder so all mail that I have that contain my name or address, I shred before throwing in the mail.

    Try exploring other means of getting yourvisa approved on your own merits. Good luck!

    You mentioned that you found other ways, but that this request for an invitation is the ONLY right way to do it. I'm sorry to disappoint you but this is not the ONLY way to do things, most certainly not the only RIGHT way to do things. It is not a matter of proving that you can afford to come to the US is sufficient, but rather, proving that you will not stay beyond your allowable limit is. People can sell property and other things, just to produce the funds needed to fly to the US and stay there from the money they raised, but this raises a security question: what's stopping you from staying in the US indefinitely?

    Remember, this is what you have to prove when invited for an interview with the US Embassy. One way of proving this is by showing current employment documents, because this tells the Immigration Officer that you have strong ties to your home country (because you are employed), and will not be abandoning that employment. I stressed here the word current. Immigration is pretty strict, but if you can satisfy this question they have, you should be fine.

    Also, just to add, a letter of invitation is not enough proof of you not overstaying in the US. Even if you show a thousand letters, this does not prove anything. You have to show documentation from your home country that you have "strong ties" to it, i.e. property ownership, employment, family. If you focus your efforts on these matters, then your application will be successful. Do not pin your hopes on getting approved for a visa simply because of an invitation letter.
