Does one's spouse have to be with you when you re-enter the UK on an EEA family permit?
I want to travel to the USA and apply for another EEA family permit (mine expires soon) but my husband won't be with me.

    Hi,
your husband doesnt need to be with you when you enter the country. BUT if he is not traveling with you, then he has to be in the country!
Then you will get a EEA Family Permit written "to join EEA citizen..." instead of "to acc (accompain) EEA citizen"

Then at the immigration they will just ask if your husband is in the country and living there. Thats it then :)

Your spouse does not need to travel with you for you to get approved for an EEA Family Permit, as spouses travelling together is not always the case. There is an option in the form where you have to check something that says, "to join EEA spouse/national" instead of "to accompany EEA spouse/national".

The UK Embassy is more concerned with how you will support yourself here, so financial documentation is very essential. I'm sure you have enough to present with your application, so no need to worry.

    Hello,

I am in a similar position:

I am a Swiss national about to be married to a Chinese national in Shanghai. For our common future we consider moving to London for a period of approximately 10 years.

Idea: I go to London by myself to rent an appartment (2-4weeks by myself), what legal status do I need in the UK in order for my wife to join me by herself, as opposed to me having to fly back to "pick her up".

Maybe it's enough for my person to be present at the airport?
Maybe I need acctual residency which I heard is hard to come by in a short time.

From the first reply it seems simple enough... anyone else got expirience?

Found another answer in a similar thread!

But I would still like some empirical evidence that this is acctually how it is handled. Great news for me already!
