    Hi,

First of all, you didn't say how far along the pregnancy is, since you want to get married before the baby arrives. At this point you should prioritize one if you can't have both: you want to marry him or you want him with you in the UK? If you want to marry him (and I'm assuming he wants to marry you as well), then get married already (either in Holland or Nigeria, wherever you prefer) and then get a copy of you marriage license from your local office. Now you have to apply for an EEA Family Permit by filling out VAF1 form (search this on the internet via Google) and submit certain documents: financial documents like bank statements or certificate of employment from you or him or both if possible, a letter from you requesting the UK Government to grant the EEA Family Permit request, 2 passport photos of him, his passport and yours, and submit it to the UK Embassy wherever both of you are, if you're not together yet.

Once he has his EEA Family Permit, then he can come with you to the UK.

my two cents worth.... since this is a forum and the stage is ours!!

First, congratulations on the pregnancy. It is great news. I hope you are in good health

Second, from what I have seen around me, you are right in stressing that you are looking for a job. It is an important point.
Immigration has become very difficult these last few years because of a number of unscrupulous individuals giving a bad name to anyone wanting to leave Africa to come to Europe. It is not bad naming per se. it is the actions (illegal trips, marriages, etc...) that end up making any bona fide case like yours being looked at with skepticism.

You should know that in requiring a visa, your husband-to-be will be asked for proof of sustainability, i.e. how will he survive in another country.?
So if you say you invite him, YOU are being asked to prove that you can take responsibility for your guest.
Now, he might get away with a student visa if he is a student but will need to be accepted by a school/university first. This is possible however I do not know how long this would take ...

You are pressed for time, and I would agreee with the last post which says you should quietly and nicely get married where you can both be without admin issues for now (it seems to be Nigeria) and then, try and get everyone together in the UK.
The procedure for someone to come from Africa is one that can be quite long.

You need to be aware of all this.

Best of luck and please keep us posted...

    Brownbonno,

Like I mentioned in the previous reply, you can apply for the family permit, but along with this application, you or him has to submit financial documents, and the acceptable ones that will make the Home Office happy is either bank statements from you or him, or both, as that would even be better. If you have a bank account in Holland, then submit probably the 2 most recent statements you have. He should do the same if he has a bank account in Nigeria. Now since you said you don't work or have no work in Holland and will be looking for work in the UK, an employment certification from your side is out of the question. Does your boyfriend currently work in Nigeria? Hopefully he does, so he can get a letter from his company certifying his employment and salary details. Either the bank statement or the employment letter will be okay. If you can submit both, that's even better. These documents basically tell the Home Office that you will not be a public charge to the UK Government when you're here.

Now if you cannot give ANY financial document with the application, I hate to break it to you but it will be very hard convincing the Home Office to give your boyfriend a family permit. If this is the case, the best recourse for both of you is to go on with the marriage and get the marriage license or marriage certificates when you can from the country where you are going to get married. Then you come over here to the UK and start finding work, and any work for that matter. The reasoning is, if you have work, you can ask for en employment letter from your employer here in the UK and you can submit that to the Home Office for the family permit. In this case, they will not refuse the application as they will see from your employment letter that you are working here and have legitimate reasons to stay in the UK.

Thanks for your briliant contribution.I will do the former-
1.get my bank statement from Holland.
    2.Get a tenancy agreement for a rented appartment(in UK)
    3.His bank statement/employment letter.
    4.Marriage certificate
5.My physical presence at the Embassy after the marriage.
More contributions are still welcome to avoid any loophole.
Thanks again to all, this website really exposes our individual ignorance about things in the society we live in.

You're very much welcome. My wife and I have discovered bits and pieces of information here where, if not, we would still be clueless as to what to do. When you listed down the documents you plan to get, that's good, have that focus and stay on it and work on it till you get it.

Now, you mentioned also that you are searching for employment. I have registered with some agencies, and they are actively helping me secure employment based on my work experience and educational background. I have also been applying online when I see vacancies, that way, you have more seeds planted out there, and have more chances of getting called back for an interview. I don't know what your background or work experience is, but in addition to other websites posted before this reply, I went to these sites as well, and registered with them:

    http://www.canarywharfjobs.com
    http://www.austinbenn.com
    http://www.ukjoblink.com
    http://www.gumtree.com <---- there's a bunch of jobs here!
http://www.mondial-assistance.co.uk <---- great company! read their website!
    http://www.advanse.co.uk
    http://www.jobs.guardian.co.uk
    http://www.pricejamieson.co.uk
    http://www.changesrecruitment.com
    http://www.annejagger.com

These are some of the websites that I've visited and/or registered. The Guardian is a good paper to buy as they have specialised sections on certain days of the week where the vacancies in the supplement are geared for certain areas.

I've been emailing and applying every day (and night) since week 3 of being here (it's now week 6 in my calendar) and I've gotten responses and interviews already.

Remember, the amount of work you put into your application is the amount of response you can expect to get. Plant more seeds so you reap more results (at least for an interview) in the future. Read also books from the local library about CV Writing and Job Application Letter Writing, as these will surely benefit you into tailoring your application letters and CVs for the companies you want to work for.

It's helped me, it will help you too.
