Moving back to France after 16 years in the UK. :!:
My kids are desperate :( to keep their TV (I know ... SAD!). I'm looking at ways to help them settle :D so I promised I'd look into it !! Does anybody out there know how to receive SKY in France ? Am I entitled to take the box/dish with me and have it set up ? Is it worth it ??
    TA! :p

I do not know how to get Sky directly in France but you can choose a French cable company that provides the same channels. Noos for example has BBC world, CNN... CanalSat has got BBC world, Bloomberg, CNN, EuroNews, CNBC, Discovery, National Geographic, BBC Prime,...

On the other hand (and it's probably the easiest way), you can take your Sky box with you indeed (you might have to pay with an English address, but as they've got 500 000 English people having a house in France they might be used to have contracts with French addresses) and find a guy who can set up properly the dish to point to the satellite.

    Thanks for this !
Does any one know if any of these cable cies do Nickolodeon, Nick junior, Disney, etc ??
I know it might sound stupid, but i'm not very "technically aware" : Are all dishes compatible eg could i just take the box and buy a new dish (I don't fancy the climb to retrieve it !). What about the PAL versus SECAM thing ? Is it still a problem ? And last, but definitely not least : What about the PS2 ? Will that be in black and white ?
God ! What a Saga !! And I haven't even started on all the electric appliances !! Au Secours !!!

Well to be honnest, for all those kiddy channels, you better take your Sky box ;-) They will have Disney TV in French anyway (I put the link with the channel pages in my previous message on the name of the packages) and you can take your DVDs...

I think we've got several discussions about TV standards already on the forum. France is Secam while Britain is Pal I. However all modern TV should be multi-standards (check in the product guide).

By the way I moved your message within the forum Repatriation.
