    Hello All.

I have been dating a really nice girl i met in germany last year.
I am British living in France ( i have been here for 4 years now )

I would really like to invite here to come and live in France with me, I am happy to take financial responsibility for her, but i dont want to HAVE to get married ( My parents are currently going through an ugly divorce , i just dont feel like marrying anyone right now ).

According to popular opinion , it would be easier if we are married.
But my question is , is it possible just to live together for a while first ?

    Thanks for any advice

    Neil

Lol, well I can see why you would say that, but I honestly want to know if this girl is allowed to come live with me without having to get married. It would be bizarre if it were not possible, but everything i read about seems to point to marriage..

    Cheers

    Neil

I'm not too familiar with the Live-in-Partnership rules in France. But of course being married makes things much easier under EU Law!!

I think it probably depends on the nationality of the lady as she might have problems of residency otherwise. However, the general rule is to apply for a PACS (Pacte Civil de Solidarité) that allows in France 2 people (can be 2 non-French) to organize a common life based on a durable relationship (from abroad you can get a PACS in an Embassy, but one of the partners need to be French). The French city hall should be able to give you the information.
