I am a uk citizen about to marry my boyfriend of four years who is non eu russian. I've just moved to france but have not applied for residency. Please please please does any one have any advice so we can prepare our marriage well and finally get to start our life together and not have to worry anymore about visas and work permits and all that horrible stuff!

    Hellow,
Married to an EU citizen & living in the UK I am wondering if there is any possiblity of obtaining a visa which will enable me to travel within the EU?? on an Indian passort. Going on holiday is always fraught with "need visa" issues it makes it virtually impossible to take any of the late deals etc.
Anyone with any advice will be most grateful?

    Thank you

    Dear Talala,

I wanted to write back to you about your situation a little earlier, but was too messed up in mine own. As i wrote before, i was supposed to go to the immigration office and get my papers cleared, ie. residency + work permit. Since i am a student in Germany, i had no problem with the residency, but work, i did!!! After marrying Ana, (frm Spain), we went yesterday with our marriage certificate to the immg office, and guess what, was bloody SIMPLE to go about everything, the catch being, Ana had to 1st have all her papers in the right place.

So, the immg office explained some things to me bout how it works in the EU, esp in Germany, that since i am married to a EU citizen, i become her "dependant", even if i am the one working and she studying, is just that politicaly, its because of her that i recieve all her rights too! To keep it simple, i suggest you go and register yourself, am sure the rule applies to France too. You got to have your papers clear and in the right place to make things easier for your boy friend. Another advice, when u r in the immg office, do not give them the whole story, just tell them that you want to marry your russian bf, and that you want to know how and what you must do to live together in France. Remember, they can never ever say NO!!! So nothing to get scared...just go and ask, get the info, get your papers cleared, marry him, and live happily "together" ever after!!!

    Take care,
    Amit!

good luck with everything, if I find out anything new I will post it up.

    All the best,
