    Cost of living in Montreal

Based on ourguide for expatriation to Montreal and our information:

The cost of housing is one of the key considerations in the cost of living in a country. Rental prices are dependant on the location, size, and quality of property and the price structure in Montréal is extremely complex. Pricing is primarily based on a series of concentric rings that have their focal point at Mont-Royal. The history of the neighborhood and other factors such as amenities affect the variations in this kind of regional pricing.
On average, rents are usually between $600 to 800 for two bedroom apartments, and $850 to $1,600 for a three-bedroom house.

    Cost of Living: Dining Out
    Three-course Meal for 2 in a mid-range Restaurant - $70.00
    Domestic Beer (0.5 liter draught) - $5.00
    Cappuccino (regular) - $3.00

Loaf of Fresh White Bread (500g) - $2.59
    Eggs (12) - $3.05
    Chicken Breasts (Boneless, Skinless), (1kg) - $10.00
    Bottle of Wine (Mid-Range) - $15.00

I can provide the range of prices depending on your spending habits, you can pick what suits you.

(Cost of living)Rent - This depends on the number of rooms and the type of house. Also, the closer you live to downtown and other commercial centres, the higher the rent.

1 bhk apartments can range from $1050 to $780 a month depending on you.
2 bhk apartments can cost $1050 to $1380 or even more.
Townhouses can have 3 to 5 bedrooms and can cost anything from $1050 to $150. Also you will have to pay extra for water and other supplies.

Cyril's post is spot on. The only thing is that the rent varies across states and that's expected.
