Not as much as it would be necessary.

For example, how much (percentagge) is the average of tax they take from your salary?

There is no fix percentage, it always depend on your wage. The higher the more they take in percentage.

    In English?

    Hello,

I have the same issue. yle_terrible, thanks for the link, but it's only in German. Do you know where I can calculate my tax somewhere in English? I am speaking of around 115,000 Euros per annum in salary -- what's the tax on that? Also, will I need to speak German to be in Frankfurt or is it ok to get by with English?

    Re: In English?

It's always easier to speak the country language, but you will be fine in Frankfurt, it's full of expats!

OK, a bit of translation then
*Brutto-Arbeitslohn : gross salary (monat = monthly, jahr = yearly, check the button)
*freibetrag : free allowance - to be checked with your company
*Steuerklasse: tax class - depends on your marital status - I is for single with no children I don't know about the other classes
*Kirchensteuerpflichtig: religion tax - that's your personal choice (ja is yes, nein is no)
    * bundensland : county - for regional taxes - frankfurt is in Hessen
*Krankenkasse : health insurance - gezetl is public insurance , privat is private - check with your company
Rentenversicherungspflicht : pension tax - answer should be yes
Kinderfreibeträge und Kinder : depends on how many children you have - you get an allowance per child

Regarding the language : no you don't 'need' to speak german in Frankfurt, I know plenty of people who can hardly say hello in german..in shops, restaurants, trains, movies, etc, everyone speaks english.
But of course it's a completely different experience if you can speak the local language.

    Hope that helps!
