✎ EN Nationality???

    hi again,

    i need some true and verified info... i am french, living in Uk and my husband wd like to apply for french nationality... according to french embassy, we have to be married 4 yrs (law of 2006)!! on wikipedia, i have been told we need to wait 3 yrs and finally, one my husband's friends told him he was officially told after 2 yrs u can apply...

    I emailed in vain the french consulate and i need some proper info cos I am not sure which source to trust...

    Most of the information I have found states 4 years. There does seem to be some exceptions, as it appears the French High Administrative Authority (Conseil d'Etat- http://www.conseil-etat.fr/cde/) has the final say. I also found info stating the wait may be reduced to two years if the foreign-born person successfully performed
    two years of higher education in France.

    I believe your best info will come from the consulate. Wikipedia is helpful, but certaintly not an authority.

    thanks for ur reply.... i will consult the website... i have got a masters from france!! and a postgraduate from uk ... i also worked for the local authorities here for 8 yrs so i wd hope it should suffice!!

    I know Wikipedia is a bit vague but they seemed to be more up to date that the consulate site...

    my husband's friend did confirm a few days ago he was allowed to apply after 2 or 3 yrs so maybe his partner has the qualifications u spoke about...

    could u give me the link where u found that it can be after 2 yrs if u have studied in france at a high level? i checked the conseil d'etat website but was unsuccessful at finding the info i needed.... cheers

    thanks a bunch!! i actually got a call from consulate for interview to validate my mariage in france and asked at same time... it is 4yrs for french living abroad and 5 yrs if in france.... either way, it is a long wait!! as long as living here on a resident card and having to ask for visa every time we go to france to see my family....
