does anyone live in China and is allowed to stay on partner's visa? any idea how to sort it out?

Start with the EasyExpat guide to Beijing. It offers a section on Passport, Visa & Permit. For the most specific information to your case, inquire at the closest Chinese embassy. All of the guides offer a section on embassies, or an embassy locator like http://www.china-embassy.info/foreign-embassies/index.htm.

If you're already in China, try connecting directly with expats in your area through the networking tool.
