uk citizen marrying a US citizen

Can anyone help me my boyfriend is american and hes coming over to UK and wants to marry me in UK and then wants me and my children to move to US with him.

is it better for me to go to america and marry him there or for us to marry in uk, also what visa will i need i have'nt got a clue what to do im so confused. :?
