    You guys have been really helpful and I now understand that as a Swiss citizen I can just enter the UK and work. What I cannot understand though is that surely you need some id card or number that proves to employers that you are eligible to work. I cannot see an employer just taking your word that you are eligible to work. What card do I exactly need to get and can I apply for it before I head to the UK.

    Passport should suffice. You will be asked for evidence when you get interviewed.
