I have a few questions and was wondering if anyone could help me?

I am a British citizen and my wife is an American citizen. We got married on the 8th December 2012 and she is currently in the UK on a fiancée VISA.

As we are now married, do we need to apply for a Spouse VISA (an FLR(M) form)? My wife is eager to start work here in the UK and I am assuming that by having a spouse VISA, she can then apply for an NUS number and then apply for work, etc... is this correct?

In addition to the above, can someone confirm if there is any criteria to be met when applying for Spouse VISA? i.e.

1. Do we need to wait till her fiancée visa has expired or do we need to only apply within 28 days of fiancée visa expiry?
2. As long as we are married, can we apply any time? i.e. do we have to be married for a certain amount of time first?
