Second-hand shops' walk - Saturday 30/06/2012

Postby Zitus » Wed Jun 27, 2012 12:39 pm

Dear all,

There will be an interesting event on this Saturday:

2nd İstanbul
The untold story of İstanbul:
Discover the fun of visiting second hand stores of Beyoğlu.

WHAT: 2nd İstanbul
WHEN: June, 30 2012 – 15:30-18:00
WHERE: Galata Kuledibi – Beyoğlu İstanbul
PARTICIPATION COST: Free event

Turkey’s first online green directory and sustainable living platform, yesilist.com is now presenting a second hand shop walk to discover the hidden gems of Istanbul. Our walk will start at Molly’s Café by the Galata Tower and finish at Govinda Café at Beyoğlu. At each stop, you will meet new people, listen to different stories and explore the hidden gems in the stores while enjoying special treats offered by respective stores. At the beginning of the event, you will get a map that you will be useful not only day of the event but also in the future. This map can be downloaded from our website. June 30th will be a celebration of discovering the less traveled streets of Beyoglu.

Why Second Hand Shops?
We, the Istanbullites, love this old city with its small streets and untold stories that go back in time. We believe it is time that we cut back on our endless consumption routines and start reusing soulful goods that have traveled throughout time. As the Earth’s resources are diminishing at unprecedented speed, it is vital to use things that are already produced and haven’t completed their lifecycle. While being good to earth, it is fun to create your own style, while handpicking goods that tell something about your own individual style by being cool and different, but certainly not conventional.

Hope to see you on the 30th!
