I am looking for all the advice/answers/help that I can get that are serious. I am 24 years old, I work and I am a college student. I am an American who plans to move to England within the next year or so. My boyfriend lives in England, and we have been together for almost 7 years now. I've been there to visit him numerous times and vice versa. I lived there with him in 2006 for 6 months on my passport. I have looked into the different types of visas in the past and the requirements. I'm thinking I will need to apply for the Fiance Visa because obviously we are unmarried currently. We want to marry eachother, and I am 100% serious about wanting to start a life in England with him, have a career and home there permanently. I want this more than anything in my life and I absolutely love England.

I am just still a tad bit confused with all the rules and visas now. I want to know also how hard is it for an American, such as myself, to be granted a visa like that? Is there anyone here who has done this before or know someone who has and their experience? I would really like to know everything that I can about this topic. I haven't done any visa paperwork or application and I already worry about it being rejected because obviously I would be crushed if that happened, so I want to avoid that.

Thank you for your help and time! :)

The FAQ section covers visas such as the UK Fiance Visa. It requires:

The sponsor and the applicant must intend to get married within a six month period.
They must have met each other.
They must intend to live together permanently.
The applicant must be able to support him / herself, or be supported by their partner, without access to public funds.
There must be adequate accommodation in place.
There is no requirement that the applicant and the sponsor have lived together before applying.

The best advice it just to research the visa completely on the UK Border Agency and prepare your documents meticulously. You can view other people's posts on the subject here. Best of luck! :D

Your other option is to get married in the USA and then apply for the UK Spouse Visa instead in your local UK Embassy there while in the US.

Sorry for the late response, but thank you to those who posted. I have just been busy, but I was able to look over the website and see what is required for moving to England. It sparked a question though, since in the state I live in doesn't require a visa for someone to legally get married, would it be easier if my fiance came over to me in the US and got married, and then I work on getting a marriage visa to settle over there?
