    Hi Everyone,

I'm Belgian, 31 years old and I live in Brussels in the European Neighbourhood. Everyday I see (hear) a lot of people from other countries in the supermarket or walking in the Parc du Cinquantenaire. Or coming out of these hughes overprotected buildings around the shumann square.

I've read an article in the newspaper about the difficulties people have finding social contact after work when they are working in the european institutions or at other places. So that's the reason of this post... I find it interesting to learn these "strangers" that I see every day, coming to my country and maybe they want to meet somebody of the brussels-shrinking-group called Belgians.

    thx!

    regards

    Hi,

Is Mary your name? I'm not originally from Brussels. I'm from Flanders, the dutch speaking part of the country. Internship? Where? In which organization? Why do you have chosen for Belgium? I know a few people from other countries and everyone likes Brussels! More then Paris for instance. It has something to do with the kindness of the Belgians :)... they say!

    regards

    Lorin

    Hi Maria,

For my job I moved to Brussels 5 years ago. Bur for the moment I work mostly of the time in Antwerp. It's always changing my professional life.... The Swedish Church is not that far from the place where I live. (Svenska kyrkan). But I've never been inside the church. Swedish Delegation? What are you studying?

    regards,

    Lorin

    HI Maria,

I don't know... it's a normal house from the outside so that's why I'm a little bit afraid to go in there. Perhaps it's only for people from Sweden? With the car it's about 45 minutes to Antwerp. You have to visit Antwerp. It's a nice city! And Bruges of course. It's the most beautiful city of Belgium.

I'm a sound engineer. Also in the music (as a hobby) but mainly in the broadcast industry. Every sunday I'm mixing a political television program in Antwerp. So maybe it can be interesting for you? But it's in dutch of course. -)

    Maria,

Swedish has some similarities to Dutch? I don't know. Maybe I can talk to you in Dutch and you can talk to me in Swedish and see if we can understand each other. There are indeed some "similarities" between Dutch and English/German. I'm speaking flemish and for me it's not the same as Dutch (-> Netherlands). Bruges is indeed amazing and also very nice is Durby. Durby in the french part of the country. It is the smallest city in the world.. they say!

Being a sound engineer is fun!! I have a lot of books about sound engineering in film/television. All the answers to your questions are in there. -) Where do you live in Sweden? I don't know that much about Sweden. Except ABBA. :) I was at the airport in Stockholm for 30 minutes a few years ago. I had a job in Moskou....

    have a nice day!

    Hi,

Of course Ikea... how can I forget it!!! Even my har- och kroppsschampo is from Ikea -) I have never tried the Swedish food in Ikea. Maybe when we end up talking there is time to eat? I've never been in Denmark except for the airport again. I've always heard from friends that Sweden is very beautiful, clean but expensive. By the way Saab doesn't exist anymore so you "have" to update your Swedish promotion list -)

40 minutes by train to Copenhagen? The train goes under the sea or is there a bridge between Sweden and Denmark?

    Hello to everybody!

"Just landed" in Brussels/Ixelles - it's my sixth week now - I would like to meet some relaxed & open-minded people without a big "déformation professionelle" for some after work activities.

Perhaps there are some other people who also want to get in touch with some other people outside their work.Thinking about some nice conversations and having a drink, going to an exposition, live music, or whatever (feeling like a little child writing these line ;-) As I also like sporting, please also feel free to contact me if you're looking for a running partner. (e.g. Bois de la cambre)

    Hope to hear from you!

    Boris
