Hello,

My fiance lives in the UK and I am in Canada. We're just beginning the process and have yet to file applications; we have some questions before we begin.

1. Am I (the applicant intending to immigrate) required to be employed in my home country at the time the Visa application is submitted?
{I've read the UK immigration website guidelines and it doesn't say anything about the employment status in my birth country at time of application but my fiance thinks this might be a factor, since I am not currently employed.}

2. Are we required to meet more than once prior to filing an application?
{We met in person and spent 3 weeks together this past summer and have maintained our relationship via long-distance for over a year.}

3. Do we need to prove our engagement, and if so, how?
{We've decided to become civil partners, but there has been no formal engagement or 'proposal'.}
