Hello, I'll try to keep this as terse as possible:

I'm a British Citizen, second year of University, graduating Summer of 2012 - Job already lined up for graduation. I'd like my fiancée to move here and live with me Winter 2011 on a Spouse Visa (We'll be married abroad).

I've read the .gov websites, and the only problem is the proof that we can support ourselves, so any help with:

    1) I earn a small steady income while at University (£200/Month, could take that up to £300 if needed). Every holiday I work fulltime at an internship and that pays more than whats needed for my living expenses. I've got enough savings for the both of us to live on for a couple of years but I'll have a job before it runs dry.

    2) Can we put down that our accommodation will be my parents place? It will not fall under overcrowding. Will this then mean that savings will purely be assessed for day-to-day living expenses, as we will not be charged rent or utilities. How can I highlight what our expected costs will be and that our savings will be sufficient?

My main worry is that as my steady income is low (with sizeable amounts being added during holidays) that they will deem that we can not support ourselves, even though our savings will be sufficient.

    Any advice is appreciated.

1 - You don't need to have a large steady income if you have savings. All you need to show is 'funds' whether thats the money you have saved or the one coming to your account periodically is irrelevant. Take both your bank statements and put in a cover letter explaining as good as you have done it here. That will be enough.

2 - Yes but you will need to get a letter from your parents ( I am assuming they are the owners ) including photocopies of their IDs explaining that they are OK with you living there and that you won't have to pay the bills either.

As for budgeting, simply make a list of things you are going to spend money on fo rexample food, transport, mobile phones etc ( for both of you ) and that should be all right.

    Good luck !
