Hi. Am being interviewed for job in hk at around hkd 770k. We are family of four (girls are five months and two years). Is that a good enough salary to get by on until my husband gets a job in hk too (and is that feasible at all?). Need to consider nursery/school costs and i am worried about the high cost of accommodation. Had a quick view on a couple of property sites - is it feasible to get townhouse/clusterhouse accommodation in hk or would we have to live in some high rise block with hundreds of flats? Where do other families live and in what type of accommodation? How easy will it be for my husband to get a job? He specialises in it outsourcing advisory. We are both danish citizens but have lived in the uk for 13 years. Many thanks!
Hi, i have been living in hk now for a year, the majority accommodation available across the island is apartments, town houses are mostly found in areas such as yuen long - about 45 minutes away from central. The price of rent all depend on size and location, it might be best to rent a service apartment at the start, before you can find something suitable. Depending on your husbands experiences, it normally is easy for an expat to find work in hong kong, he might have to take a lower salary at the start. But he might find he doesn't get the benefits, such as healthcare etc hope this helps.
