My wife (non-eu citizen) and i (eu citizen), got married in greece. However we are currently in the uk and she has her unexpired visitor visa (expires in 2 months). I am working in the uk, and the question is if she can apply for a residence card (we have marriage certificates ect), or does she have to go back to her country and apply for an eea family permit and come here and apply for a residence card?

    Thanks a lot.

Visitor visa can't be switched to any other type of visa, almost impossible. The easier would be for her to go back to her home country and apply for an EEA Family Permit. She could do the same from Greece and would be even easier.

    Good luck

Ok, so the best is to go to gr and get the eea family permit and then come here get a job and apply for residence permit. I guess with the eea family permit you get a national insurance number.

It's just the boring paper work we have to do for the eea famlily permit i.e. Contract of employment, proof that we are together with photo albums, telephone bills, giving also details about my incomes ect. But if that's the optimal solution, then we will do it.

Thanks a lot and any other advices are more than welcomed.
