On March 5th, I am moving to London for a job that is located in Kensington. I would like to find a fun, safe place to live in London... something that I can also afford. I am looking for advice on where to live - and just as important - where not to live. I am 29, male, single, and an mid-level executive with an international company who locates its European operations in London. I enjoy going out and would like to be near a location that has some other single people and an entertaining nightlife(not looking for a location that is all families and small children). My office has suggested the following locations - if anyone has thoughts on these areas - Please let me know. Thank you in advance.
    Brixton
    Clapham
    Wandsworth
    west Kensington
    Fulham, Hampstead
    Chalk Farm
    Angel
    Archway
    Kings Cross

When you say Kensington, do you mean South Ken or High Street Kensington?
    • - For South Ken Clapham Junction is very good with the bus 345 and 49 going strait to South Ken. Shopping center, a lot of shops, bars and restaurants. Very convenient transport.
      - West Ken is also nice, more quiet and residential.
      - Fulham may be a bit expensive.
      - Hampstead, completly the opposite, north, quite posh.
      - Angel, opposite also (which means a long journey to go to work) but a lively area. Good to go out, maybe less nice to live there.
      - Brixton: really rough
      - Wandsworth: it's a big borough which includes Putney, Clapham and Battersea. Wandsworth town is ok.

    Clarification on location of office

Thanks for the info... The office is closer to Kensignton High Street Tube Stop — located in Kensington Village.

Anyone else have advice? I am taking all the advice I can get! :D

There is a good website at Moving to London Guide which has information on many of the areas of London.
Out of the places you mentioned, Islington has good nightlife and is a nice area to live though a bit expensive. Clapham is nice and still fairly close to Central London on the Northern Line.
