My German husband, currently vacationing in USA with me, is based in UK. I have just received my family permit. My husband has funding through a grant in the UK. He does not have a residence card. We are moving 17 December, flat hunting for a few days, holidaying in Germany and then returning to London in early January.

    Q. Am I able to work in the UK? When I accept a job, does the EEA family permit in my passport suffice until I have my residency card?

    Much thanks!

In theory, yes. However, some employers may not understand that, because the guidelines written by the government are wrong. In that case, you can either try to explain the situation to your employer, or you can apply for a residence card (using form EEA2). The confirmation letter states that you have the right to work, and that should satisfy most employers.
