Hi everybody! I have a problem...
I am from EU and at the moment I am doing full time course at university (BA Hons). 8 month ago I met my boyfriend, we fell in love, but the problem is that he is from Ukraine, his student visa (He is studying English at college) has expired at the end of October, He applied for another visa, but basically we are not getting any news from The Home office. We worry about it, because if he wont get visa he will go back home, and I wont be able to see him for 2 years. We have discussed, and we both want to get married. Is it possible to get married in UK if his visa will be one month expired?
P.S. I cant go to my or his country to get married because of my studies, the process takes long time, and my course is very busy, as I am on a second year. On the other hand I can leave university, because I really want to be with my boyfriend. I am lost... Dont know what to do... My boyfriend is depressed, he is hiding everything, but I can feel it. I wish I would know the law.

I am not an expert on the UK immigration law, but as far as I understand foreigners (from outside the EU) cannot just get married. Your partner needs to get a Certification of Approval from the Home Office. I assume that he will need a valid visa for this.

The other option is to apply for a fiancé visa, which also works as a Certificate of Approval. But your partner has to apply for this in his home country. You need to prove sufficient means and the intend to get married, otherwise it should be a rather straight forward process.

    Hi!

If his visa is already expired you won't be able to get married on that.. if it isn't expired yet however you have to have six months left on it to be able to get married.
He might want to look into extending his student visa if he's still got a bit of time..if not he might want to look into getting another visa.
Check out the ukvisa.gov website... it tells you all you need to know.

    Good luck!
