I'm in the process of filing out the UK fiance visa online. I am an American citizen and my fiance is British. My question is in regard to currency and savings. They ask you to state how much you have in savings as well as how much my sponsor/fiance, is making at his job per year. Those amounts have to be in pounds correct??? Also, I only have $3500 in savings, although my fiance has a full time job, as do I currently, and his parents have written out a letter pledging financial support if we needed it. Will this be enough to show the entry clearance officer that we can support ourselves and accept our application? I'm nervous about this part of the application because we only both recently started working as we've both only recently graduated from University

    savings- in what currency

I read what the other topic but no one really addressed whether the amount i have in my savings should be converted to pounds in the application. I just want to know if that's what they want, for the figures to be in pounds.

    thanks again!

I would suggest leaving it in local currency. Converting it to Pounds throws up uncertainties over the present value of the money, the conversion factor used etc...

State that you have the savings (in Dollars) but I'd strongly recommend leaving that money in its US savings account until the exchange rate improves. The difference between today's rate of $2.08/£ and the historic average of $1.6ish/£ is about five hundred pounds. That's a lot to throw away if you don't need it.
