    Hi everybody,

Could you tell me how it feels for an occidental to live in Dubai, I am concerned about the "liberty" we are used to:

:headscratch: -clothing: are the girls allowed to wear skirts/dress , strapppy or halterneck tops..., is it true that the bikini is not allowed on beaches, if yes is it allowed in private properties (hotels or in your own swimming pool)?

:headscratch: -Is there special issues for teenage girls?

:headscratch: -behaviour: are we allowed to hold hands in the streets or can you express tenderness toward your husband or wife or your kids?

Any further relevant information on the topic are welcome.

    Thanks for your answers.

bikinis are allowed on the beach, holding hands in public is fine, as long as you don't put up a show for the people around you its not a problem. skirts and all those things are allowed, but would the person wearing it really want all the "bad" attention from the sleazy people on the street? there are lots of those here.
dubai is not that strict, simply because it is a muslim city, they just expect you to respect that. no loud music during prayers, no heavy making out or shows at any time. if you follow this, dubai should not be a problem
