I think I've got something of an interesting case, as I haven't really been able to find any useful information. Anyone care to help me?

I'm a US citizen who is interested in relocating to the UK for two years. I currently work from home for a US company and I would be able to continue to work from home for the same company from the UK.

Based on what I've read I don't think I need a work permit, as I'm not looking to work for a UK company. However, a tourist visa is neither long enough nor sufficient for my arrangement. I've heard you can get tourist visas for longer than six months.

Any ideas on how I can make this happen? It would seem to me that this kind of thing would be ok. After all, I would be putting money into the economy without taking any out. I would even still be covered by my company's health plan!
