    Hi there

Well, London is expensive, especially for rents and transport costs. It is possible to live on an £18000 a year salary and people do it, but it depends a lot on what your expectations are.

You will have to pay tax and national insurance (social security/labour charge) payments on this level of income. As a rough guide, you will lose about a third of your money in taxes, so you should expect to have about £1000 a month in your pocket.

If you are prepared to share a flat in one of the less smart areas of London (maybe a little way from the city centre on the underground) you should be able to pay your rent and still have enough money to have some fun!
