Anyone knows if I hire an employee (as in a business office, not domestic servant), do I have to pay social security for him/her? If so, what is the % (based on salary) and if there is any ceiling / max amount? Thank you.
Supposing your company (the "employer") is based out of Dubai itself, there would be no such charges as social security to be provided. A standard remuneration package in Dubai is made of the following: - Basic salary : which will serve as the contractualy binding basis for calculating dues such as end of service gratuity. - Housing allowance: this is calculated usually as a percentage of the basic salary, e.g. 35%. - Transport allowance: usually 5-10% of basic salary - Other allowances and advantages; these are usually as per company policy or negotiated at contract signature. Includes but not limited to air ticket for self and family to country of origin once a year, bonuses and comissions, etc. Note: Basic health insurance coverage for employees is now mendatory for all employers in UAE.
