    Hi,

I've overstayed for about 2 mths in UK and wanna leave next week. Long story. But not on purpose. Is it possible for me to visit my friend in Ireland before going home straight from Dublin (not via UK of course). Please help me someone. Advice from experience is really much appreciated. Thanks.

you are in breach of UK immigration law, your best shot is to call the IND and explain the situation as they know what to do. 2 months if justified accordingly shouldnt be a problem i guess.

    Thanks

Thanks to both people that replied to my topic. It's been really helpful. But I was wondering what should I say to the officer on the phone when I call IND? They might think that I'm lying and send me to prison or something. :( But I was telling the truth. It's not deliberate! :( I was not even working since November.

    Re: Thanks

this will never happen, also with prisons crowded so much nowadays you might end up doing community service such as picking up litter on the side of the motorway instead....... just kidding

    you'll be fine

Unless you had exceptional reason to overstay dont call anyone, they dont have the time dealing with it,(IND).
Are you visa national ?How did you get your visa?

I'm Malaysian. I got the 2 yrs working holiday visa. Do you think it's gonna be a problem for me to enter R.O.Ireland? I don't need to apply visa in advance for Ireland.

The Common Travel Area is only for UK and Irish citizens . When travelling from UK to Ireland you will need to show ID at Dublin airport ; my non-EU wife always has her passport checked (but never when arriving in UK from Ireland ) , and is usually asked to produce her Irish registration card (Green Card).

no i dont thinik you have any problem getting into ireland, go by the boat they just check you got a travel visa, to go to ireland. have you got a toursit visa for the republic,
if not go to belfast and get a car, and drive to where your friend is, then you are enetring the uk, and there is no pasport control omn the border for years now, so you just drive down, no one there to stop you and then exit through dublin to where, you wanna go, no one cares when your leaving, its getting in is the problem, if you get in, they wont even question letting you out!!!!
