My husband and I (both Americans) just realized that because both of his parents were born in the UK (his dad even currently owns an apartment in Scotland)that he can probably get a UK passport. We were wondering if having a UK passport makes him an EU national even though he only lived in the UK for one year when he was a child.

If he is an EU national, does that mean that he could work in the Netherlands without a work permit, or is there some EU residency requirement?

We've been married for five years. Would I be able to work in the Netherlands on the strength of his UK/EU passport?

We have no children so that is not an issue.

Thank you so much for any answers you have.
