I am currently in Australia with my fiance. He is Australian and I'm British. I'm just here on a tourist visa and we haven't declared our relationship to any immigration authorities in either Oz or the UK. I was planning to start a course here in July and would stay in Australia on a student visa.
However, I am now pregnant and about to return to the UK to have the baby, and will stay there indefinitely, and of course, I want my fiance to be there too.
My fiance and I have only been together for about 20 months, and have lived together for 16 months, but that doesn't satisfy the 2 year requirement for an unmarried partner visa. We don't want to get married hastily just for the sake of it, as we have planned a wedding next year (in the UK).
Do you know if there is any way around the 2 year requirement for unmarried partner visas? Would we be granted one in any case if we are planning to marry?
He has previously been to Britain on a working holiday visa which will expire in the next few weeks.
We would like him to come to the UK within a month or two (I'm going back in a couple of weeks), but I understand that all these types of family visa take months to process. Ideally we would want him to work for an income but in a worst case scenario he could come over for 6 months as a 'tourist'.
Does anybody have any advice, or know of any way around these strict categories? Any advice much appreciated.
    Jilly

There is 2 type of visa he could apply for:fiance or unmarried partner.
If fiance you`d be expected to get married within 6 months.
As unmarried partner you could probably use "exceptional circumstances" in order to him to get it.In your case I would imagine this one would be better deal because he could work from the start.Whether he`d be granted one is a different metter.
