Ok. My husband and I are moving to the UK for 4 months (we're living in the US right now). I am american he is English. We both need to work while we're there. Can I:

Get an EEA Family Permit, pay no fee or a low fee, and work in the UK for up to 6 months?

Have my Husband come WITH me...arrive WITH me and not go ahead and "settle" before me.

Look for work after obtaining this permit - and not need aaaany other permit or visa, just be able to work after I got it.

    Is this possible?

I'm confused because I just called that AWFUL $2.10 hotline (the only way to ask visa questions here apparently) and spent a fortune with a man who had NO IDEA what the family permit entailed!!!!! I don't know how that could be but it is true.

GRRRH. Maybe I'm not eligable, I don't know, I just want to understand if this is right or not.

THere is no short-term visa. Just visitors. We're going through immigration hell, thanks to the change in laws while we were 'stuck' in the usa. You need to apply for Spousal Visa. You can do it on-line or by post. Or you can make an appointment for which you should have all your forms and back-up. Go to this link: http://www.britainusa.com/visas/other_show.asp?SarticleType=25&Other_ID=322

We've been living here on a visitors visa. Me and kids are American. We can register youngest for British National and don't have to deal with Visa stuff. Me and other 3 kids have to come back to States and deal and pick up visas while they are on 1/2 term break; before 6 month visa runs out.

    Hope that link helps.
