    I've heard you can, I've heard you can't. Is anyone able to clarify?

    California drivers license in the UK

    You can use your US driving license in the UK for 12 months. But, before that 12 months you have to take the driving test in the UK. There are 2 types of licenses you can get. 1 for automatic and the other is for a manual divers license. That means, if you take the test for an automatic vehicle, that is the only kind of vehicle you are legally allowed to drive. You will have to take the written as well as the road test.
